only a week!!!!! (almost)

D.W.Q.M.: "I'm going to be killed by a Christmas tree!!!" -Jackie Tyler (from the Tenth Doctor story, the Christmas Invasion ) Holy crap! It's been almost a month since I last posted!!! Yikes!! Tomorrow morning, I'm off on vacation-yay!!! I'll try to update while I'm away, (I always want to, but almost never have the time). We'll see. I can't believe that Christmas is almost a week away!!! Panic mode has finally hit me as a realize just how much I need to get done before I go to sleep tonight...sleep? Tonight? HA! ;) Anyhoo, this was just a quick update to let you know that I'm still around. If I don't get the chance later-Merry Christmas!!!! Happy Holidays!!!!! Happy New Year!!!!!

bring on the holidays!

D.W.Q.M.: "You've redecorated!" -Sarah Jane Smith (from the Tenth Doctor story, School Reunion .) Went to storage today and pulled out all of my Christmas boxes-so I'll be ready for this weekend!! Woo-hoo! :) I still need to get some stuff for the porch-I'm going to put the small tree I've had since college outside this year-I might need to find something for it to stand on, though-when I brought it home from storage, I put it directly out onto the porch (since it's out of the way and will have to go there eventually). It's not very tall! You'll only be able to see the tip from the street. :( I'll figure it out... Have I mentioned that I LOVE this time of year? We were driving down Euclid Hts Blvd, towards Coventry around sunset-since there was an actual break in the clouds, the sun was peaking through and hit the trees in the neighboorhood. Despite the wind and the rain, many of them are still full of leaves-OMG! It was gorgeous! I wish I had

the Leonids!! Comet Holmes!!

D.W.Q.M.: Duke Juliano: "There's this man in Florence- claims that by arranging ground glasses in a certain order, it's possible to see the moon and stars as large as your hand." Marco: "Is that a good thing?" (from the 4th Doctor story, The Masque of Mandragora ) The Leonids peak this weekend!!! Sunday, November 18th, 1:00am, EST. Unfortunately, our weather up here looks to be a bit cloudy, and well-rainy/snowy. Hope the rest of you have clear skies! Leonid meteor shower Also, you can still check out the comet!!! I was at Perseph's this past weekend, and it was clear enough so I could show everyone. :) I also went outside Monday night to observe the comet (my neighbors must think I'm really weird, standing outside in the cold with a pair of binoculars staring up at the sky...) I think it's getting more difficult to spot with the naked eye (although, if it's dark enough, you can still do it...at least at the beginning of the week-been too c

Stupid spam!!!

D.W.Q.M.: "The trouble with computers, of course...is that they're very sophisticated idiots..." -the Fourth Doctor Apologies to anyone who may have tried to use my dreamingheart email over the past week or so. I didn't have a chance to check it, and when I finally got around to it today, I had nearly 1700 messages (almost all of it was spam-grr!) It's only been 2 weeks! Yikes! I didn't get any 'you've reached your quota' emails, but they may have gotten lost in the hoards and hoards of spam I've had to sift through. I have received legitmate email from 11/10/07, so that's a good sign, I guess! I hope my email hasn't bounced back to any real people trying to contact me. If it has-I'm sorry! Well, now it's late and I'm off to get some sleep. Nighty-nite, don't let the spammers bite!!! ;)

It's a comet!!!!

D.W.Q.M.: Duke Juliano: "There's this man in Florence- claims that by arranging ground glasses in a certain order, it's possible to see the moon and stars as large as your hand." Marco: "Is that a good thing?" (from the 4th Doctor story, The Masque of Mandragora ) So, have you seen Comet Holmes yet? I was able to find it!!! Me!! In my own front yard...in Cleveland !!!!! Ok, I'll back up a few steps. For those who might not have heard, Comet Holmes suddenly became visible to the naked eye when it puffed out a huge cloud of dust on October 24th. Shocked astronomers all over the world. And the best part...it's really easy to find in the night sky!!! To the unaided eye, it just looks like an extra star in the constellation Perseus. Grab a decent pair of binoculars (that's all it takes at the moment!), and you can clearly see it's not your average star. :) Astronomers aren't sure how long you'll be able to see the comet without help, so e

Happy Halloweeny!

D.W.Q.M.: Ian: "Where's your spirit of adventure, hm?" the First Doctor: "It died a slow and painful death when those bats came out of the rafters." Just wanted to wish everyone a safe, and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!!

*yawn* am I unpacked yet?

D.W.Q.M: "You mean, you live here?" -Barbara Wright (from the First Doctor story, An Unearthly Child ) 2 weeks I've been here, 2 weeks! And I'm not even settled yet. ;) I've only made one trip out to storage. Only managed to find 3 of my 7 Halloween boxes. :( I gotta put something up-it just doesn't seem like October! (well, except for the playoffs. LOL) Things are coming along-slowly, but coming along. Right now, the best, most put together room in the house is the kitchen. The dining room could use a little work, the bathroom's not too bad. And,with help from my friend Mike, at least the livingroom is more oraganized. (He came up for our Peruvian gig the first weekend of October) While he was here, he helped move some furniture around, so now the livingroom looks more homey. Up until then, the furniture was everywhere-two of my tall bookcases blocked the windows, my couch was at an odd angle in the middle of the room...you get the idea. My bedroom is th

I've moved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

D.W.Q.M.: "Well, we did it-congratulations, our new home." -Alan Jackson (from the Sarah Jane Adventures story, Invasion of the Bane ) Ha! Okay, so that's not really a Doctor Who quote, but that kept running through my head during various points of this past weekend. I kept thinking-'soon, that'll apply to me!' LOL. ;) Don't have much time to go into details right now, as I'm catching up at work. Computer at home isn't hooked up yet-so my online time will be quite limited. :( Right now, all I gotta say is this: MY FRIENDS TOTALLY ROCK!!! Arthur, Paul, Jerm, Mr. Dave, Perseph, and Adam (for the use of your truck!) I would NOT have been able to do this without your help!!!!!!!!! Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (actually, I don't think I can even begin to thank you guys enough!) Quick reflection: Once my old apartment was emptied and cleaned, I thought for sure that it would appear bigger. However, as I sat down on the floor of my old liv

the time is near...

D.W.Q.M.: "It seems that I'm some kind of a galactic yo-yo." -the Third Doctor Holy crap! It's almost time!!! I am SO not ready. LOL. Tomorrow, I'll get the keys, then the truck, load the truck, unload the truck...etc, etc. Lots of running around tomorrow! Plus, packing last minute things. Arthur and Paul are going to help me tomorrow night-Perseph said she could help out Saturday, Jerm and Mr. Dave too-hopefully this won't be as chaotic as it is sounding to me now. So much stuff...I"m down to mostly odds and ends, but still-why do I have the feeling tonight will be the last night I get any sleep this weekend? lol. The other day I had a killer sinus and tension headache=ugh, that's the last thing I need! I'll be ok! All this week, everytime I passed the stop that will become my new bus stop after the move, I say-next week, I can get off the bus early! LOL. I'm also looking forward to getting some area rugs for the floors. I liked my grey carp

The trials of moving...

D.W.Q.M.: "...I seem to have lost my sonic screwdriver." -the Third Doctor 8 days. Today I packed my first frustration box. You know, one of those boxes where you look at the stuff you just don't know what to do with, and in your frustration, you dump it all into one box and mark it in big letters, 'MISCELANEOUS'. <-- I hope that's spelled right-the only dictionary I haven't packed yet is my Gaelic dictionary. Fat lotta good that'll do. I have also come to the point where you set something down for just a second, and there's so much stuff lying around that the next thing you're saying is, "I just saw that five minutes ago!! Where the hell did it go?!?!?" I'm not even gonna count the number of times I've packed up a box and sealed it, only to discover minutes later that there's something else that should've gone in there. (I've been doing quite alot of retaping). Perhaps this is why this has been my favorite ca

on the move....

D.W.Q.M.: "I'm packing my goodies, and I'm going HOME! " -Sarah Jane Smith (from the Fourth Doctor story, The Hand of Fear .) Big news for me-I am moving!!!! In 10 days!!!!! AAAAAGGGGHHHHH!!!! Okay, I've known for a while-actually been planning it most of the summer-but I didn't want to say anything until I actually had a place (call it superstition). I finally got a new place in August-but then there was the Feast, plus, I've been packing like crazy-I've got 8+ years of stuff crammed in here!! Since I can't move in until the end of the month, I've been packing up boxes and putting them in temporary storage, to make room for more packed boxes. Before I got the unit, I was triping over everything (my shins are quite bruised). I can't help but think of my dear friend Peresphone on her moving day. She said she felt like the Queen of Boxland, sitting above all of her boxy subjects. I sort of feel like that now-however, I have to send my boxy

Because I'm a good sport...

D.W.Q.M.: "You know, I am so constantly outwitting the opposition, I tend to forget the delight and satisfaction of the arts... the gentle art of fisticuffs." -the First Doctor (if you can't quite see it, the writing on the cake says 'Sorry about the Twins! Good Luck in 2008). After the Twins were swept by the Indians twice within 2 weeks, my friend Mongo thought I could use a cake, 'cause, well, cake makes everything better. I was sitting on the couch at Taco night next to Jerm when he presented it to me. I sat there, silent, with my arms and legs crossed, and counted to ten while I contemplated laughing, crying, or simply ripping his head off. ;) Mongo said that was the reaction he thought he'd get. In the end, I ended up laughing, 'cause, well, I gotta admit, it was pretty funny (and revenge can be just as sweet, too. lol) ;) Persephone had the best line-"Let me know when you cut the cake, 'cause I want some of that sweet, sweet agony!"

The Feast 2007, day 3

D.W.Q.M.: Barbara: "What's that awful noise?" the First Doctor: "I beg your pardon... 'Awful noise'? A good way to talk about my singing!" Barbara: "No, Doctor, not that awful noise -- the other one!" Reed count: 2 down Hey, check it out! We're on YouTube! August 15th, 2007: Well, I guess this is what happens when the band is put behind the mayor. ;) I still thought it was cool-so if you've never made it to the procession in Little Italy, here's a small taste. The first night was a little rough-the street lights weren't working right, then a firetruck had to come up the street. While we were waiting for the firetruck, it started to rain. Yay. :p LOL. Nothing new-there's always something! ;) The second night was much better-ok, so it was a little humid, but it didn't rain, and we re-situated ourselves in front of the lemonade stand. Instead of our traditional Feast circle configuration, we were in 2 rows, which actually w

Holy crap, it's August already?!?!

D.W.Q.M.: the Second Doctor: "If only I could find my recorder, I could play you a little something to pass the time." the Brigadier: "We should be thankful for small mercies." I swear the summer had just started, now it's almost over!!!! I'm really, REALLY sorry I haven't posted much here at all. I think this has been one of the busiest summers in my life. (hmm...I say that all the time now, don't I?) But I really have been busy-I haven't even had the time to finish Harry Potter yet!! (yes, I know! I know!! Bad, Ro!) There is just so much going on...when I get some things sorted out, I'll post about them. Saturday night after our weekly trip to Starbucks, Perseph, Foofy, MewMew and I all drove out to Kirtland to try to see some Perseids. Although it was the day before the peak, I managed to spot 7 of them. :) I miss the days when we could camp out in our front yard (in Minneapolis) and watch the Perseids from there! Growing up, I couldn'

"We have a request...but we're going to play anyway!"

D.W.Q.M.: Barbara: "What's that awful noise?" the First Doctor: "I beg your pardon... 'Awful noise'? A good way to talk about my singing!" Barbara: "No, Doctor, not that awful noise -- the other one!" I think we set a new record this weekend-for lowest turnout! Yikes! This past weekend we were at Mt. Carmel. We had 10 the first night, 8 for the procession, and 13 for Sunday night. We didn't sound too bad, considering our numbers. Our repetoire was severely limited, though. (and there were probably a couple of numbers we should have avoided.) However, we were still appreciated-and we stuck it out!!! The standard joke for the evening: Wayne: "We have a request!" Pete: "But we're gonna play anyway!!" Other fun stuff: "How do you guys feel about 118?" "With 2 (actually, 1.5) clarinets?" "1.5?" "I'm the .5!" Jesse: "Can we Adenella?" Me: "Should I leave and come

back from MN

D.W.Q.M.: "How about a trip in the TARDIS? I'm just off." -the Fourth Doctor Well, actually, I'm back! I have to admit, this was one of the most stressful vacations I've ever had, but that was sort of to be expected, with the accident and all. I survived! And amid all the stress, we managed to have some good times. :) However, I did manage to loose my cell phone. $%@#! The good news is, it dropped in the car my sister drove to the airport in. Bad news-this wasn't discovered until they were in Little Canada, and didn't have enough time to turn around. My mom, my sister, and the two girls drove me to the airport. When I discovered my phone was missing, I asked complete strangers if I could use their phone to call mine. Everyone was really nice-including a woman from England who was very apologetic because her phone didn't work here in the States-she did offer me her long distance phone card-I told her it was ok, and thanked her anyway. :) This is what ha

Marcon 42-the report!

D.W.Q.M.: "I think those crazy kids have gone off to the sewers to get photographs of the Cybermen." -Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart (from the Second Doctor story, the Invaison ) Yay, Marcon!!! I had an awesome time!!! I wrote about working the video room and other Doctor Who stuff over at the Idiot's Lantern You can check them out here: Marcon, part 1 and Marcon, part 2 This year, I got to meet Kevin Sorbo!! *hee* My mom and I have this running joke-whenever I mention Kevin Sorbo, she always says, "You know he's from Mound [Minnesota]" So I told him that, and he thought that it was cool that we were from MN too. I got him to sign an autograph for my mom, and he wrote 'Go Minnesota!' on it. LOL. He is so cool. And guess what? He played Duck, Duck GRAY DUCK as a kid!!! LOL ;) :-D I also got to meet Steve Bacic: He was also really cool. :) I wish I could have made it to some of the panels they did, but I didn't have time. I heard they were pretty a

motorcycle safety

This weekend, my brother-in-law was involved in a motorcycle accident. He was riding the bike, and my sister and the kids were following behind, when this kid in a pickup truck came outa nowhere and ended up right in front of him. The next thing you know, my sister sees Jon flying through the air (she described it as looking like he did a cartwheel) and landing in the ditch. Chaos insued as everyone tried to get their bearings, but thankfully there was a farmer nearby, who was already on the phone with the authorities as he came over to see if everyone was alright. According to Alicat, Jon underwent surgery and now has two rods in his leg, in addition to a broken pelvis and foot. No brain damage, though, cause he was wearing a helmet-thank GOd! The first EMT on the scene happened to be Boo's best friend's father-he walked over to Alicat and showed her his helmet, pointing out the scratches on it and said, 'thank him for wearing this, 'cause if he hadn't, this would

Happy Solstice!!!

Happy first official day of Summer, everyone!!!! Yay! And, if it's clear enough-don't forget to check out the space station tonight. From my friend DJ: "I heard on the news this morning that (weather permitting) the space station will be visiable tonight starting at 9:38 pm. It will be directly overhead at 9:41. There is only a five minute window to see it. It was pretty cool to see it Tuesday night." Sweet! Oh, that's Eastern time. :)

new comments

D.W.Q.M.: "Well come on, aren't you supposed to be programmed to be user-friendly or something?" -the Sixth Doctor Well, the site that hosts my comments has been down for quite a while now, and I don't know when it will be back up, so I decided to switch my commenting to Haloscan. I guess if the old site ever comes back, I'll move my old comments over. Until then...

Woo-hoo! Doctor Who!

D.W.Q.M.: "Fantastic!" -the Ninth Doctor So I'm sitting here, working on my computer with the tv on in the background, tuned to SciFi. (where else would it be? LOL) I just saw a commercial for the third series (season 29) of Doctor Who!!!! YAAAAAAAY!!!! LOL-the tiniest things do excite me so. I love being a geek girl. :-D

grrr...blogger!

D.W.Q.M.: "Well, come on! Aren't you supposed to be programmed to be user friendly or something?" -the Sixth Doctor Hmph! Apparently Blogger is having issues publishing to personal FTP servers-the post I made yesterday finally managed to publish-almost 24 hours later! Not sure why there is a problem-I didn't change any of my settings, just kept trying to republish and checking the help group until it worked. At least I'm not the only one with this problem. Seriously, though-this needs to be listed on Blogger's 'Known Issues' list. So this is a test to make sure my being able to finally publish wasn't just a fluke. Oh, and while I'm here, things I need to post about: 1. Marcon!!! (I met Kevin Sorbo! ;) ) 2. Disc golf with the guys (and my fantastic shot on hole 4!) oooh, speaking of issues-it looks like my comments are down again-that's a problem I have to check out with the site that hosts my comments. Sorry guys. 0:-)

"Look! A trumpet!!"

D.W.Q.M.: the Second Doctor: "If only I could find my recorder, I could play you a little something to pass the time." the Brigadier: "We should be thankful for small mercies." Today marks my 10th summer with the Italian Band of Cleveland!! It's hard to believe that I've been playing with them for 10 years. Today we were at Holy Redeemer in Colinwood for the Feast of St. Anthony. Usually the turnout for the first procession of the season (after Good Friday) is pretty low, and today was no exception. 2 clarinets, a piccalo, 2 baritones, 2 saxes, a bass drum, cymbals, a tuba, two trumpets, and our fearless leader, Nick. Small band, but enough to survive on. ;) For a while it looked like we were only going to have one trumpet, then I spotted one walking down the street and shouted, 'Look! A trumpet!!' I think I got caught on video-someone had a small camcorder and was taping the commotion just before the procession. LOL. The weather was pretty good, an

Marcon!

D.W.Q.M.: "Fantastic!!" -the Ninth Doctor Yaaaay, Marcon starts tomorrow (today?) !!! ;) I'm so excited-this year I'm actually working during part of the con-a new experience for me. I volunteered to work the British SciFi video room that Doctor Who Columbus is running this year, and I volunteered to help out during the Masquarade Saturday night. At first I was a bit worried I wouldn't have any 'me' time at Marcon this year (last year Arthur was in the masquarade-said he didn't have much time for himself), but I got the video room and masquarade schedules, and it looks like I will have some time for other things I would like to do. (Panels, roaming through the dealer's room, try to get Kevin Sorbo's autograph. ;)) I still haven't decided if I want to participate during the opening ceremonies-it's up against a Battlestar Galactica panel. LOL. 0:-) Well, I better get going-I have to finish packing and then try to get some sleep, 'c

Sensory overload...

D.W.Q.M.: "You know Doctor, I could play all day in my green cathedral." -Harrison Chase (from the Fourth Doctor Story, the Seeds of Doom ) As I was out on a walk this past Monday, I suddenly realized how green everything was!! Hard to believe that 2 weeks ago the trees were still bare. Now, the leaves are starting to come out, flowers are starting to pop up and bloom in gardens, and the grass is so green! Even though winter is my favorite season, I do appreciate all seasons, and I love the transitions between seasons. Summer to fall, fall to winter, and winter to spring! Ahh, the smell of new flowers, of freshly cut grass, the manure-scent of fertilizer (ok, so maybe that last one isn't so great. ;) ) Must enjoy it now, before my allergies remind me why I have a bottle of Allegra in my medicine cabinet. ;) Yay, spring!

Doctor Who news

D.W.Q.M.: Sgt. Benton: "What are we going to do now?" the Second Doctor: "Keep it confused, feed it with useless information. I wonder if I have a television set handy?" ( author's note: this post can also be found at the Idiot's Lantern .) I just realized that I haven't been posting these over here ever week like I used to when there was new Who (in the U.S. or U.K.) I'll try to remember to cross post here when I do these for the Idiot's Lantern . Series 3/Season 29 in the U.K. Saturdays, 7pm (GMT) on BBC One Current episode: 5. Evolution of the Daleks Previous epiosdes: 4. Daleks in Manhattan 3. Gridlock 2. The Shakespeare Code 1. Smith and Jones The ratings are down in the U.K. Smith and Jones scored a record-breaking 8.2 million viewers last month, but last week's episode, Daleks in Manhattan , only scored 6.3 million. (However, it is still beating the competition!) Have the Daleks lost their touch? one writer asks. Well, I've got

so much to do, so little time...

D.W.Q.M.: "Why is a mouse when it spins?" -the Fourth Doctor ....nah, I'm just lazy. ;) A few thoughts for this week: -I'm up 3 pounds from last week. d@$#%! At least I'm still under a certain weight 'X', but if I'm not careful, I may go over that. I've managed to stay under 'X' for 2 months now, which I'm very happy about. However, the Easter candy needs to disappear soon (and not by way of my mouth), and I have to start exercising regularly again. I went for a walk Sunday after I got home from Pittsburgh (God, the weather was gorgeous!!) and Tuesday, but I'm not walking nearly enough, and I need to get back into a regular exercising routine. My friend Mongo lent me VNV Nation's latest cd-I'm excited-new cds are great to listen to on walks!! ;) -Eventually I'll report my Open that Box! day results. I wanted to do a scan of all the chase cards I found-they all fit nicely into a 9-card pocket page. ;) -Hmm...other thin

LAFF it up! ;)

D.W.Q.M.: "Carrot juice, carrot juice, carrot juice..." -the Sixth Doctor Okay, been slacking with the LAFF plan updates-that's for sure! I really need to start focusing again-I feel I've gotten off track-at least with the exercising part. The weather hasn't been all that great for walking-but I've completely stopped working out at home. I really need to do that again. Since I haven't used my weights in such a long time, I'm going to have to be careful and ease back into it. It's no fun walking around with sore arms! I'm hoping the weather will start to get nice again-since walking is my favorite form of exercise. :) Also, with the warming weather (hopefully it'll stay that way for awhile), means more disc golf! I don't know how I've managed it, but I've actually still been loosing weight-not a whole lot, but I was down 2 pounds from last week! So I've either A-successfully changed my diet, B-been really lucky, or C-a litt

Happy (snowy) Easter!

D.W.Q.M: "Who sold you on that, an Eskimo?" -Sarah Jane Smith (yes, I know I used this quote last time-but give me a break-there's 20 inches of snow outside my door!) ;) "I don't know whether to wish you a Happy Easter...or a Merry Christmas." -Fr. Mike, at the beginning of his Easter homily. Yeah, getting to church this morning was a bear. Of course, none of the sidewalks were shoveled (they didn't even bother to shovel our walks during the Valentine's Day blizzard!) And the streets were just plain awful. In East Cleveland, it was so bad that they closed all the hills-told people not to drive until the snow stopped. (yeah, right, it's still falling!) Oh, no-wait. It actually looks like it might have stopped...for now. They didn't get to the roads until mid-afternoon. Anyhoo, while sitting at church, I heard this loud rustling sound-I (along with several other parishoners) looked up just in time to see the shadow of snow falling off the ro

I'm dreaming of a white...Easter?!

D.W.Q.M.: "Who sold you on that? An Eskimo?" -Sarah Jane Smith (from the Fourth Doctor story, Seeds of Doom ) I think I may have mentioned this before, but living in Ohio has made me soft. Years ago, the prospect of having a white Easter wouldn't have shocked or upset me so. I mean, we may not have enjoyed having a white Easter in MN, but when it happened, it wasn't as unusual as it is here. (Snow in April? sure! bring it on! ;)) The snow looked so pretty as it was falling outside my window at work...too bad it's spring and Easter around the corner, rather than winter and Christmas being around the corner. When we got to St. Rocco's, despite being reassured earlier in the day that the procession was still on-we found out that they decided to cancel it. They were worried that the streets would start to freeze over. Although I was a little disappointed, in all honesty, I was not looking forward to playing my clarinet in 20 degree weather. brrrrr! So several o

Some updates on a cold, snowy, SPRING? night.

D.W.Q.M.: Barbara: "Perhaps it's frozen?" the First Doctor: "No, impossible... not in this temperature. Besides, it's too warm." It's snowing. It's snowing. Hard to believe that it was 80 degrees on Tuesday, and by Wednesday night, we had snow on the ground. Come on, it's April! It's spring! (Wow, living in Ohio has made me soft. Snow in April used to be 'normal'.) ;) So much to say, so much has been going on. I'm not even sure where to begin with updates. I guess I should start with my promotion-yes, I got a promotion at work. However, it's name only (no money for raises this year). My job title went from a II to a III, and I have more responsiblity. Now I'm an ordering assistant. I actually order books now! I'm still receiving and cataloging Approval plan books-but now I'm also dealing with firm orders-searching, downloading records, ordering books/dvds from different vendors. So many new logins and passwords t

wha....? another month!

D.W.Q.M.: "I'm not senile." -the First Doctor Yikes, it's been over a month since I last posted!! Crap-so much for keeping this new years resolution. LOL. Updates coming soon...I promise! Really! :)

Hell hath frozen over...

D.W.Q.M.: "Who sold you on that? An Eskimo?" -Sarah Jane Smith (from the Fourth Doctor story, Seeds of Doom ) I never thought I'd see the day. Case Western Reserve University will be closed tomorrow. That's how bad the weather is. Case never closes. I've been on the phone all night with people-including my supervisor-he said it's official, we don't have to report into work tomorrow. WOO! My first snow day as an adult!!!!!!!!!! Today has just been crazy. 8:00am Radar shows all of Ohio covered in some sort of precipitation. Mostly snow, except for a slight line of pink, followed by a bit of green in southwest Ohio. Ohio is under a winter storm warning...except for the Toledo area...they are under a blizzard warning. 11:00am Karen, in Columbus, is worried about being able to dig out her car. Up here, the snow isn't that bad...yet. 1:15pm Her boss comes back from lunch-says it's only going to get worse-but doesn't let them go home. Ohio State

Ro and Shar's LAFF update #2

D.W.Q.M.: Mel: "His favorite drink is carrot juice." the Seventh Doctor: "I hate carrot juice!" Mel: "Oh." Oops, I've been a little lazy about LAFF updates. So far it's been going okay since the beginning of the year. I haven't been loosing much weight, but then again, I haven't been gaining much either. ;) I've lost about 5 pounds since the beginning of the year-not bad, but not great-I know I can do better. I've been kind of lazy in regards to exercising in the past week-I didn't do much at all. I thought I was coming down with a cold last week-I was feeling very tired and a little achy. Actually, it probably would have been a lot worse-but since starting this with Shar, I've changed my diet to include more fruits and vegetables-and other healthy choices-I'm sure my immune system appreciates that. ;) I haven't been walking much, either-at least not for 30 minutes. I do enjoy walking in the cold-however-it's b

Look, Ma! It can get cold down here!

Image
D.W.Q.M.: Moberly: "Are you OK, dressed like that? You don't seem to notice the cold." the Fourth Doctor: "I haven't come ten thousand miles to discuss the weather, Mr Moberly." Woo! My friend DJ took this picture yesterday morning at his bus stop. Yup, that's two below! To me, this is what winter is supposed to be like. So cold that you have to bundle up so the only thing people can see are the whites of your eyes. Of coure, I didn't get glasses until I was down here in Ohio-so not being able to see since your glasses are fogging up because of your warm breath is being directed back to them due to the scarf wrapped around your face is still quite an adventure for me. ;) For the past couple of days, people have been asking me if it's cold enough for me yet. Yes, I constantly complain that it's not cold enough to be winter. I mean-to me, winter means cold! Snow! Sledding! Skating! Ice fishing! (well, ok, I've never done that-but my sist

Ahhh! New blogger!!!!

D.W.Q.M.: "We still have our homicidal computer to deal with." -the Sixth Doctor Well, in order to post, I had to upgrade. This is just to see if my template still looks ok. One of the issues that I had to deal with were custom-made templates-like they wouldn't upgrade...or something. I don't know-I had looked into it a little bit last week, but never got around to doing anything about it. I did a test post for the Idiot's Lantern , and that turned out alright. (I guess it recognized me as being the owner, even though I sort of inherrited that job-there were issues about that, too-but since it's a moot point now, I won't get into that.) I'll do a posting on Ro Knits later-if these two work, then that one's bound to work. Hey! It merged my profiles together without a problem! I can access SarahJane.tv from my dashboard again. Yay! Alright, I'm going to publish this-keep your fingers crossed that this post correctly. LOL. ;) *crossing fingers*

what? where'd the time go?!?

D.W.Q.M.: "You cannot speak as though reality is a one-dimensional concept." -the Valeyard (from the Sixth Doctor story, the Ultimate Foe .) First of all, I just want to give a big THANK YOU to all my family and friends (both in person and online!) who made my birthday one heckuva happy one. Thank you sooo much!! You guys totally rock. So as to my New Years resolutions-well, some are going ok, some have been broken, others are hanging on... ;) I know I said I was going to post more, but dang it-I just haven't had the time! :( I haven't even migrated my blogs over to the new Blogger yet, because I haven't had the chance to reinvestigate the issues that were holding me back before to see if they are still issues. Oh, well. I did update my profile for the new Blogger-I was planning on holding off on that until I migrate my blogs over, but decided to just go ahead and update a few things-hopefully that won't cause a problem when I finally do decide to migrate. B

I'm how old?!?

D.W.Q.M.: Moberly: "You must be the Doctor. We were expecting someone much older." the Fourth Doctor: "I'm only 749. Used to be even younger." I've reached a milestone. Today, I'm 30. Holy crap! I'm 30!!! Hard to believe that just the other day I couldn't believe how old my niece was-and now I can't believe how old I am! ;) Speaking of Boo-she was sick on her birthday. :( She was pretty bummed. I had been planning on having the gang at TacoNight sing to her-so after our weekly viewing of Farscape, I called her up and we sang to her. Alicat said she could tell when we started to sing, because this huge smile started to spread across Boo's face. Yay! And to my friends: THANK YOU! :) Hmmm..I had this big long entry planned about how I felt about being 30 and reflecting on my life so far...but it got kind of boring in my head-so I decided not to post it. All I gotta say is, so far, so good! Tonight I'm going out to dinner with my friend

nighttime musings

D.W.Q.M.: "Hey, you're giving me the willies." (from the Second Doctor story, the Abominable Snowmen .) Alot of fun stuff happened in Minnesota, and I want to share them here. However, readers who have been with me since the beginning know how that goes. LOL. I'll make my usual statement now-over the next week or so, I'll try to post some of the stories I have. Ha! ;) Actually, I was inspired to write one now. I like to walk, especially in the evenings, after work. Well, today it was pouring rain, I mean REALLY pouring out-it was raining so much that the KSL oval looking like a raging river. (ok, maybe not THAT bad, but still-it was rainin' hard.) No walk after work tonight! Well, around 10, I noticed that the rain had let up, possibly even stopped. I thought-'hey, I'll go on a walk now.' Then my brain kicked in and said, 'NO, DUMMY! You're not in Shafer anymore!!!!' Especially after hearing the story of someone who was held up not to

New Year's Resolutions

D.W.Q.M.: "When everything is new, can anything be a surprise?" -Cho-je, (from the Third Doctor story, Planet of the Spiders ) Happy New Years, everyone!!! Hope you all had fun! I had a fantastic time at Persephone's (as usual! Yay!) I know it's a few days late, but I thought I would post some of my resolutions. 1. Update my blogs more often Ok, so this one hasn't gotten off to the best start, but I used to update my blog quite frequently, back in the early days. I'd like to try to go back to more than just one update (if that) a week. 2. Attend church more than just 3 or 4 times a year I'm not sure if I'm ready to become active in church activities yet, but I would like to try to attend more than just the standard Christmas/Easter and the few other times I go. I actually got a head start on this-I went to church every week of Advent. 3. Loose 40 pounds this year This is actually a part in a long term plan-I want to get back down to a healthy weig
