Happy New Year

Hey everyone! While I was 'out and about' on the net, I thought I would take the time to wish everyone Happy New Year!! Everyone have fun and be safe! See you in 2005!!

Hi, I'm back!!

Hey, everyone!!! I'm back from Minnesota!! I had a great time!! Not as much snow as I would have liked, but it certainly was cold! ;) Some of you probably already know this from reading Perseph's blog (thank you Perseph!) I have a new little niece!!! Malinda came into the world on December 17th, at 7lbs, 5oz, and 21 inches. You'll notice a slight spelling difference in the name-when I called Perseph after visiting my sister in the hospital, I thought her name was spelled 'Melinda'-I didn't find out until several days later that it's really 'Malinda'. Silly sister-she knows if it's an unusual spelling, that she needs to tell me-I made the same mistake with the spelling of Boo's middle name almost 5 years ago! LOL ;) Malinda is so adorable!!!! (no, I'm not just saying that 'cause I'm her Auntie. ;) ) well, ok, maybe I am a bit biased, but aren't we all? I got to hold her when she was just an hour old. That

D.W.Q.M.: "Our lives are different from anybody else's. That's the exciting thing. Nobody in the universe can do what we're doing!" -the Second Doctor Happy Santa Lucia Day A few notes about St. Lucia Day: -Santa Lucia, December 13th, is celebrated only in Sweden on a national scale. Lucia was a 4th Century Sicilian saint. No one is sure why she became so revered in Sweden. I've heard at least 2 different stories... -At dawn, on December 13th, the eldest daughter dresses in a white dress with a red sash and wears a wreath of ligonberry branches with 4 lit candles (the same number as the Advent wreath). She carries a breakfast consisting of coffee, lussekatt (sun-colored saffron buns), and gingerbread cookies on a tray to her parents, with her younger sisters and brothers in tow. They are also dressed in white-the girls carry lit candles, and the boys wear tall, pointed caps. -before the change to the Gregorian calendar, December 13th was the s

D.W.Q.M.: "But we're still heading for the biggest bang in history." -Sarah Jane Smith author's note: I originally wrote this during my lunch hour-but blogger was acting funny, so I couldn't post it til now. Okay, okay, okay-I know this is REALLY late-I do apologize! I finally found my copy of Sky and Telescope...I didn't think there would be anything too exciting before today, but it shows how much I know. ;) Today's astronomy post is brought to you by Sky and Telescope Planetary Alignment Starting tonight (December 10th), when Mercury passes inferior conjunction, the planets will be in their natural order outward from the Sun in Earth's sky. It will last until the 13th, when Pluto leaves the evening sky. They say such a lineup is rarer than the transit of Venus, and that they haven't been in their proper order westward from the sun since before the invention of the telescope. It's not going to happen again for at

Happy St. Nicholas Day, everybody!!

umm...okay.

What happened to my post about last Monday night's game? It was here up until when I posted a few minutes ago. I didn't delete any entries. ARGGGGGGG. >:-O! didn't have a backup of that entry, either. ARRGGGGG!!! @&%$!!!

ahh, the holiday season...

D.W.Q.M.: "Sleep is for tortoises!" -the Fourth Doctor Hello everyone! Okay, I know I've been bad about posting-I was hoping to post a little more this week, but time just seemed to slip away-I didn't even do a lunchtime post, 'cause yesterday, after a coworker and I were showing our knitting projects to a few others, a group of us decided to skip lunch and head to JoAnne's to shop for knitting supplies. ;) (I didn't get any 'cause I'm in the middle of a project-I need to finish this baby blanket! I don't need new yarn or needles to distract me from it. LOL.) Speaking of babies, my sister is having...another girl! :) Her nickname here will either be M&M or 3M, depending on the final decision of her name. ;) (loooong story). I'll be in Minnesota for her birth, so I'm really excited! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend! Mine was good-cooked enough food to have leftovers all weekend. My sister called me

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody!!! mmmmmm....turkey. Things Romana is thankful for... -That the turkey was thawed enough to cook ...and didn't burn. -That I made it through another Thanksgiving without breaking any china. -That when I did my yearly cleaning out my 'horizontal filing cabinent' (aka, the dining room table) I didn't find any outstanding bills that hadn't been paid. On a more serious note: -I am thankful that I have a roof over my head. -I am thankful for all of my friends and family. <--most important thing! :) *hugs*

Today's random thoughts-paper clip, gum, and a whole lotta duct tape...

D.W.Q.M.: "Reincarnation can come out, but human beings can't go in." -the First Doctor Woo-hoo!! Cover art for the 1st season of Macgyver, coming to dvd on January 25th, 2005!!!!!!!!!! Yah, i'm jazzed. :-D Farscape, Doctor Who, Stargate, Firefly, Hitchhikers...it's nice to know I still have a little bit of B5 in me, too. ;) : Flying Daleks! When first introduced to the Daleks, they didn't like stairs (well, you wouldn't either if you were a huge salt shaker shaped part creature/part machine thing with no obvious way of moving about except for sliding across the floor). By Remebrance of the Daleks they could levitate up stairs, which was a nasty suprise for the 7th Doctor. Now, apparently, not only can the levitate up stairs, but they can fly and exterminate from mid-air!! SWEET. ;) It's the Monster of Peladon all over again...well, sort of. This time, the Cleveland Public Library is the culprit. Back in July, I requested

Yeah! :) :)

D.W.Q.M.: "You know, I am so constantly outwitting the opposition, I tend to forget the delight and satisfaction of the arts... the gentle art of fisticuffs." -the First Doctor Vikings: 31 Packers: 34 Tied, with three seconds left in the game...FIELD GOAL-GREEN BAY!!!! WOO-HOO!!!

Aurora pic-links

D.W.Q.M.: "If you could touch the alien sand and hear the cry of strange birds and watch them wheel in another sky, would that satisfy you?" -the First Doctor. *sigh* To live in a place where the aurora borealis looks like this. The photographer has some pretty cool shots in her gallery-too bad I can't figure out where she is (well, I only looked at the first page of pics...) BTW, in case you live in Northeast Ohio and are wondering... this is what was seen in Akron, Ohio last night. Pretty cool, huh? :) It was a little over a year ago (November 4th, 2003) the most intense x-ray solar flare recorded in history was produced by our sun (measuring somewhere between X30-X40 levels) *sigh* I love the aurora borealis!!!

lucky little sis :)

D.W.Q.M.: "Our destiny is in the stars, so lets go and search for it." -the First Doctor My sister is one lucky brat. LOL. Last night, she was standing outside her home, talking to a friend, when she looked up at the sky and screamed, "Oh, my God! I'll call you right back! Gotta call my sister!" She saw the aurora, right above her home! I figured she was far enough up north and away from any major city lights to get a good show, but this is the first time she's noticed it. Quite a display, too, from what I hear. She described it as green and red, but mostly green from her viewpoint-and pulsating quite a bit. Since the sun was setting (it was about 6:00 CST), she said it was getting brighter and more spectacular by the minute. She brought out the kiddies so they could see the display, too. Lucky ducks! From what she described, the image looks something like this. (even though this image is from Newfoundland, Canada.) She was really excited

November Night Sky

D.W.Q.M.: "Where in time and space am I?" -the Second Doctor Okay, so this is a few days late-I'm sorry! Today's astronomy post is brought to you by Sky and Telescope . :) Daytime Occulation of Jupiter All times EST, for Cleveland. Okay, so this is a daytime event-so sue me! Actually, it'll be really hard to see, but I still think it's cool, so I'm posting it anyway. ;) On Novemeber 9th, beginning just before 11am, the moon will occult Jupiter. At about 11:00am, Jupiter will disappear behind the moon, and reappear again about an hour later (noon or so). Jupiter and the moon will be a little higher than the sun, and off to the right. Of course, you'll need a telescope with a solar filter to view this, and whether or not you'll be able to find Jupiter or the moon at all will depend on the transparency of the sky (how blue it is...) Like I said, probably not good for the casual viewer, but like I said- I thought it was cool so I pos

Trick or Treats 2004

D.W.Q.M.: Ian: "Where's your spirit of adventure, hm?" the First Doctor: "It died a slow and painful death when those bats came out of the rafters." I hope everyone had a great Halloween! I went over to P^2 to help out with Trick-or-Treats, and we had a blast!! I went over early to help decorate-we had pumpkins-Perseph made 'pumpkin pi', and I made one to resemble Scorpius (although both of my pumpkins were attacked by evil squirrels-bad squirrels!) I still put them out anyway. ;) I also decided to make scarecrows this year-I used some old clothes, and Perseph's smiley faced basketball and volleyball. I had printed out a couple of masks-one of Marilyn Monroe and one of Bill Gates as Frankenstein, and taped them onto the balls. Adam and Jerm spread cobwebs all over the bushes in the front, and I made a makeshift graveyard in the ivy in the front yard. The place looked pretty cool! Hopefully our pics turned out. ;) We finished decor

Happy Halloweeny! :)

D.W.Q.M.: Ian: "Where's your spirit of adventure, hm?" the First Doctor: "It died a slow and painful death when those bats came out of the rafters." Happy Halloween, everybody!! My Halloween village, 2004. "There are three things I have learned never to discuss with people: Religion, politics, and the Great Pumpkin." -Linus Van Pelt Have a fun and safe Halloween, and try not to scare too many little kids. ;) Boo!

famous people and total lunar eclipse

D.W.Q.M.: "First things first, but not necessarily in that order." -the Fourth Doctor So there was a bunch of famous people at KSL today...but more about that later. Before I forget-there's a total lunar eclipse tonight!!! It's only supposed to be partly cloudy tonight, so here's hoping we'll get to see something!!! I'm planning on bringing my small telescope to taco night tonight-it's great for lunar viewing!! :) Here are the details: Total Lunar Eclipse! (all times EDT) October 27th the lunar eclipse will be visible in North and South America, and on the morning of October 28th, Europe. We (Eastern and Central observers) will be able to see the total eclipse, while Western observers will see the Full Moon rising with a small bite already taken out of it. :) Here's the breakdown: 8:06pm: Eclipse begins when the Moon enters the light penumbral shadow. 9:14pm: Beginning of the partial phase when the Moon enters the darker umbral

Spooky

D.W.Q.M.: Ian: "Where's your spirit of adventure, hm?" the First Doctor: "It died a slow and painful death when those bats came out of the rafters." I've updated my front porch for Halloween!! To check it out, click here. Oh, and please let me know if there are missing images-I try to load them all, but I always seem to miss something... :) Thanks! So tonight I foolishly decided to have a thriller/horror movie marathon all by myself. I made a bowl of popcorn, switched off the main lights, turned on my Halloween lights, lit some candles, then sat down to watch Gaslight (the 1944 version with Ingrid Bergman), the Ring , and Halloween . ...yeah, I'm not sleeping for the next couple of days... Next week I want to watch the Exorcist and the Omen ...I'll never sleep again. ;)

And then there was one...

D.W.Q.M.: Liz Shaw: "You were a respected scientist once." the traitorous Dr. Lennox: "Grossly underpaid." I just found out this morning that I'm the only one left working on the storage project. We went from having four people in June, to just little ol' me. Great... Speaking of storage, I told everyone at taco night last night that I'm going to be wearing a harness at storage. The look on everyone's face was priceless. :) Seriously though, we've been complaining about the working conditions there, so they want to run some air quality tests-and to be somewhat accurate, they need to run the tests while someone is actually working there. I don't really know the specifics yet. This morning my boss came up and asked what they were planning on doing, and I described it as best I could. He was imagining a mask from the World War I era...said we definitely have to get pictures of that. LOL. *sigh* back to work for me!

The Orionids

D.W.Q.M.: "One day we'll know all the mysteries of the skies, and we'll stop our wanderings." -Susan I am taking a brief break from my excitement over Farscape to talk about something else. (look out though, kiddies- I'm not finished with Farscape!!! *heehee* ;) ) Our system at work has crashed yet again, so I'm writing now. (Have I mentioned before how sucky it is when practically your entire job relies on the computer system?) They are taking it down for another major rehaul-someone is going to fix it. (gee, where have I heard that before? ;) ) Heads up!! the Orionids peak tonight!! (well, more like tomorrow morning.) Best viewing time is in the wee hours of the morning-that's when the shower is the most active. Unfortunately, if you live where I live, it is unlikely you'll be able to see anything at all. Forecast is cloudy, with a 30% percent chance of light rain or drizzle this evening. BOOOOOoOoooooooo. :p Anyhoo, the maxim

*psssssssst* Don't forget: There was a slight moment (actually more like several hours) of panic today. I turned on my tv around 1, and discovered my cable was out. NOOOOOOOOoooooooooooo!!!!!! NOT 32 HOURS BEFORE THE FARSCAPE MINI!!!!!!!!!!!! It's Saturday!!!! They'll never fix it in time!!! Sometime earlier this evening, the cable came back on. *whew* That was a close one. :) :) So, in order to prepare for the mini, my friend Arthur and I got together today for a Farscape marathon. Too bad we can't fit 88 episodes into one day. ;) We watched 9 episodes -how do you pick 9 out of 88? It wasn't easy, but this is what we chose: 1-4 are from season 1; 5 is from season 2; 6 and 7, from season 3; and the last two are from season 4. 1. Premiere Well, duh! It's always good to start with the beginning-the episode that started it all! :) Crais is introduced as Number One Bad Guy. 2. P.K. Tech Girl As Arthur said, it's always good

knitting away...it's a baby blanket!

D.W.Q.M.: "...Madame Nostradamus made it for me...witty little knitter..." -the Fourth Doctor My second knitting project!! I promised Karen that I'd start posting my progress on the baby blanket that I am knitting for my sister, who is due in December. :) I found the pattern I am using at Michaels -it was one of those free project sheets that they have around the store-found it while I was checking out their baby yarn. It said level 2 experience, so I decided to give it a shot. (livin' dangerously, yep, that's me!) ;) I had heard rumors...when I heard people say how hard it is to knit with baby yarn...boy, they weren't kidding!!! The stitching pattern is a little different from the straight garter stitch I used for the Doctor Who scarf (which I still need to post pictures of, I know-I'm sorry!). It took a while getting used to it, but I think I'm getting the hang of it. I'm more critical about my work on this one, since I'm actually

"My bologna has a first name..."

D.W.Q.M.: "Maybe I am getting too young for this sort of thing." -the Fourth Doctor A strange occurance was reported at a gas station on the corner of Noble and some random side street last night-a crazy girl was running around a car screaming, "Mr. Spider, you leave my friend alone!" How odd. ;) Congrats to my friend Angel's son, CJ! His football team won this past weekend, 21-0!!! Woo! Times like this I wish Minnesota was alot closer, so I could go to his games. :) I hear there was much screaming and rejoicing-I love football! :) A bunch of us from Cleveland went down to Medina this weekend to visit our friends Steph and Dan. Their son is soooo adorable!!! I crawled under the table for an exciting game of Peek-a-Boo, and later, while he was outside swinging, Steph mentioned he loves it when someone stands in front of him and pretends to be hit by the swing. So, of course, I had to run out in front and wipeout. He was very amused. :) The f

D.W.Q.M.: "It takes all sorts to make a galaxy." -the Fourth Doctor (image courtesy of the SciFi Channel -thank you!) Happy, happy, joy, joy. I promised that my next post would be 100% happy: Frell, Yeah! :) :) :) :) 11 days and counting. WOO! Crichton: "How are you doing?" D'Argo: "I have to pee." *they look at each other* Both: "Hahahahahahahahahahaaa..." icannotwait, icannotwait, icannotwait...

Uff-da, I should have stayed home! ;)

D.W.Q.M.: "But you can't rewrite history! Not one line!" -the First Doctor Tomorrow all non-essential personnel at the library get the day off-the skeleton crew left behind will get a comp day, but I don't have to come into work tomorrow! Yay! This exciting day off was brought to you by the VP Debate held here tomorrow. Okay, I admit, I am getting a little caught up in the excitement...but not too much. ;) Originally the library was scheduled to close at 3pm tomorrow-it still is, but we got an email Friday from Joanne saying that the library will remain open with only the minimum needed to run circ, reference, and the computing resources from 8-3. Those who do have to work will get a comp day-that's cool. I still haven't seen any Secret Service people wandering about, but I've been told they've been spotted on campus. Anyhoo, I digress-I was actually thinking about taking today off, since I don't have to come in tomorrow-make it a

October Night Sky....

D.W.Q.M.: Duke Juliano: "There's this man in Florence claims that by arranging ground glasses in a certain order, it's possible to see the moon and stars as large as your hand." Marco: "Is that a good thing?" -from the 4th Doctor story, The Masque of Mandragora Today's astronomy post is brought to you by Astronomy Magazine . :) A few cool events happening this month-if I remember, I'll try to post about them again the day of, or before, the event. :) Total Lunar Eclipse! 9:14pm: Beginning of the partial phase when the Moon enters

Don't forget your towel...

D.W.Q.M.: "Have you ever thought what it's like, to be wanderers in the fourth dimension?" -the First Doctor For those of you who love the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, the last three books of 'the trilogy of five' are being produced as two new series for BBC Radio 4 . (of course those of you who read this blog and are fans probably already know this. ;) ) Just a heads up-since it's Thursday, Episode 2 of the series should be available to listen to online sometime this afternoon or evening. Enjoy!!! :) I am really enjoying the book Jerm leant me, and am kicking myself in the head for waiting so long to read this series!!! ...where's my towel? LOL. ;)

the tooth fairy strikes again...sort of ;)

D.W.Q.M.: "Eureka" is Greek for "This bath is too hot". -the Fourth Doctor Thank you, Perseph , for picking me up today and stopping at Walgreens so I could pick up my sub...per...uhh..PREsription. ;) You rock! Ahh, yes-tonight I am recovering from the loss of my second wisdom tooth(upper right hand). (ow!) Last Friday, after biting down on an oatmeal cream pie, hearing a crunch and discovering that it wasn't hardened cream that made the crunching noise, I made another trip to the dentist this morning. Unfortunately Monday-Friday they are walk-ins only, but it was worth it, 'cause my dentist is totally cool-he can tell when you are nervous and tries to make small talk to take you mind off of the impending procedure. Last time it was about me being a Green Bay fan in the Dawg Pound, this time it was about me being a scifi geek (thanks to a Doctor Who tshirt and Jerm's copy of 'the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' that he leant me t

ahh...space...

D.W.Q.M.: "And I'm suffering from post-regeneration amnesia, as far as I can remember." -The Seventh Doctor When you live in the dorms and then an apartment for several years, you forget what it was like to live in a house with your own backyard. Thanks to P^2J , I'm starting to remember what it was like. :) Last night during taco night, after we had finished playing Skip-Bo, everyone retired to the livingroom to watch the Bachelor (i think-although I'm not 100% sure)-my sinus headache was still bothering me, so I decided to go outside for a bit of cool air. (I know what you're thinking-going outside when the problem probably originated from stuff in the air isn't the smartest thing to do-but it was getting chilly, and the cold helps me feel better) I went out into their backyard and looked up at the sky-it was pretty clear (well, except for the light pollution, of course) So I laid down and just stared up at the sky. Nothing really to look at,

Autumnal Equinox

D.W.Q.M.: Romana2: "Oh, I do love the spring..." The Fourth Doctor: "It's October." Romana2: "I thought you said we were coming for May week." Fourth Doctor: "I did...May week's in June." Romana2: "I'm confused." Fourth Doctor: "So was the TARDIS." Romana2: "I do love the autumn...the leaves, the colors..." Happy Autumn, everybody!!! :) Time for me to put away my summer decorations and candle holders, and bring out the fall! Soon it will be time to bring out the Halloween decos!!! :) Yay! "Shine on, harvest moon..."

Random thoughts-the 'that's what's going on at work' edition

D.W.Q.M.: Range: "Systems that could rebuild a civilisation for us. Failure-proof technology." The Fifth Doctor: "What happened to it all?" Range: "It failed." Ah, work. Not much going on really, so this may be quite a boring post. ;) Our storage project is moving along...slowly! The other day I turned the corner and started on row 8...of 30. Linking the journals can be very tedious at times. A couple of my coworkers and I just started shooting the breeze of all the problems over there-misshelved books, not enough room to move the trucks around, journals that weigh a ton and fall off the truck if you hit even the slightest bump. We discovered what the mess was in one of the rows-it happened when B. was pushing his truck to put away some old and particularly heavy journals-he hit a bump, and they literally catapolted off the truck-one hit the ground spine up, and the pages just fell right out of the binding. Yikes!! Every time I walk by jour

Monday night football...

D.W.Q.M.: "You know, I am so constantly outwitting the opposition, I tend to forget the delight and satisfaction of the arts... the gentle art of fisticuffs." -the First Doctor Packers: 24 Panthers: 14 YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8:58...8:59....9:00. Packers first game in the regular season. Ahhhhh...football season has now begun. "When I was younger, I wanted to be called 'Gator'." -Brett Favre I LOVE FOOTBALL Browns fans had their day yesterday-today it was the Packers! I LOVE FOOTBALL "He's slippery" -Panther's Fields, in reference to Ahman Green. You would never guess that I was a scifi geek if you ever caught me watching football...unless you caught me in the middle of shouting, 'What the FReLl?!?!' at the refs. ;) I LOVE FOOTBALL 'FAVRE'S BACKUP'-as seen on a tanker stationed in Kuwait. Sweet. It was an awesome game to watch-the Packers managed to keep both Carolina&#

YAY!!!!!

Bridesmaid's dress: xxx dollars Hair: xx dollars Makeup: xx dollars Shoes: xx dollars Spilling wine on your dress while dancing the conga at your best friend's wedding: priceless ;) *heeheee* Congrats to P^2 -they are now married!!!!! The wedding was so much fun, and Perseph looked absolutely gorgeous in her dress! Paul cracked me up-while I was coming down the isle, he started flashing '8 to 5' with his hands (marching band people will get the joke :) ) and then while we were all processing out, he did a Monty Python and went out doing Silly Walks. LOL. I'm sorry I haven't posted in a while-I've been busy helping Perseph prepare for her wedding-I even did a few guest blogging posts for her to help keep people updated. :) I spent most of the last two weeks at Perseph's, so I haven't had much time to do any updating of my own, or reading other blogs. I was a bit tired, but IT WAS SO WORTH IT!! :) YAY, Persephone and Paul!!!

Gee whiz.....

D.W.Q.M.: "You know, I am so constantly outwitting the opposition, I tend to forget the delight and satisfaction of the arts... the gentle art of fisticuffs." -the First Doctor author note: I wrote this just after midnight last night, but it was taking too long to publish, and I was tired, so I just let it go until this morning. ;) 8/24 Why is it almost everything I love to watch in the Olympics (both winter and summer) always seems to meet with controversy?!? I just finished watching the Men's highbar routine . WOW. After Alexei Nemov's performance...it was so bizzarre-the crowd booed at the judges score forever! (if I had been there, I probably would've been doing that too-instead after the score I was like, ' What?! Are they kidding?' and then watched in amazement as events unfolded in Athens) Now, I'm no judge, and I have no idea what they look at and what they deduct for, but even I thought that Nemov's score was a little low

ahh, the Olympics

D.W.Q.M.: "You know, I am so constantly outwitting the opposition, I tend to forget the delight and satisfaction of the arts... the gentle art of fisticuffs." -the First Doctor Okay, I've succumbed!!! I am finally into the Olympics. When they started last week, I was like, 'Eh, it's not the same as when I was little.' But then I started watching a few competitions, and realized that I really do enjoy watching the Olympics!! So far I've managed to ignore the results being published online (with the exception of a couple of competitions)which is why you won't find any links to the Olympics here-just in case you don't want to know until you see it. ;) I did manage to see the US Mens swimming team win the gold in the 2x400 meter relay and Paul Hamm's individual gold without reading they had won it online before hand. (both of which, were really fun to watch!!!) I only saw the tail end of Paul's performance, but it was pretty fricken&

more about the Feast

D.W.Q.M.: the Second Doctor: "If only I could find my recorder, I could play you a little something to pass the time." Brigadier: "We should be thankful for small mercies." random quote from Stargate: "Well, I guess that makes me both happy and sad." -Col. Jack O'Neill Well, actually-I had hoped to give you brief updates like the one I did Friday afternoon for each day. Unfortunately, when the Doctor mentioned that my friend Mike was putting together my "new" computer, I didn't realize that that also meant dismantling my old computer for parts (like the harddrive) LOL. I should have known better! Since I am still working on setting up my computer, I'll post here at lunch. :) ---------------------- First of all-I gotta know: was there some kind of major sale somewhere on cameras and camcorders? I swear, I'd never seen so many flashes in my life!!! ;) stats after Friday (this is a running total from thursday

The Feast!

D.W.Q.M.: the Second Doctor: "If only I could find my recorder, I could play you a little something to pass the time." Brigadier: "We should be thankful for small mercies." Just a real quick update before I head out to the Feast... We're having fun! come join us! ;) Number of reeds worn out: 1 Number of high notes hit: lost track after Onore D'una Banda Number of times we have played aforemetioned piece: 1. (*whew!) Number of Sousa marches played: 2...I think... Condition of lower lip: tender. Gotta run! Everyone have a great weekend!!!

Even just one makes it worth it. :)

D.W.Q.M.: Cornish: "Control to capsule: do you have visual contact?" the Third Doctor: "Do you mean 'Can I see it'?" So after taco night, Jerm and I looked for any signs of the Perseids in P^2's backyard. This was about 11:30 pm. 20 minutes and several bug bites later, we decided to go inside. I went back out about an hour later by myself-by then, the clouds had started to roll in, but you could still see the brighter stars faintly through the clouds. So I thought, 'why not?' and stayed out there for a few minutes. It was worth it. I only managed to see 2 meteors, but they were pretty bright since I was able to see them through a thin layer of clouds. Unfortunately the clouds only got thicker, so I decided to call it a night as well. Am I disappointed? Well, ok- yah-maybe just a little. After all, there was the potential to see many, and I only saw a couple. But I spent many nights growing up camped in our front yard in Minn

a few more random thoughts before the crazy weekend!

D.W.Q.M.: Professor Rumford: "I still don't understand about hyperspace." The Fourth Doctor: "Well, who does?" K-9: "I do!" Fourth Doctor: "Oh, shut up, K-9!" Well, the first of many crazy weekends! ;) Don't forget, the Perseids peak tonight!!! If you have clear skies, they say the best viewing time will be between 11pm and dawn. I'm hoping that the skies of Cleveland will decide to clear up sooner than forecasted. I hear there is the potential for a meteor storm this year. :) The Feast of the Assumption begins tomorrow!! For those who actually drive through Little Italy be warned-I hear they are closing the streets at 5 on Thursday and Friday, instead of the usual 6pm. Weather permitting, we will probably have our sit down concert sometime between 8:30-9 pm, on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. We'll be wandering the neighborhood before between 6-8. D.W.Q.M.: "Eureka!!" -the Third Doctor Special thanks to Jaya , who helped me figure out why my posts weren't showing up. You rock!! ...now I just have to find the time to write more updates! ;) LOL. This one's for Perseph: Gee?!?! ;)

D.W.Q.M.: Davros: "WE SHALL BECOME ALL... The Seventh Doctor: "...POWERFULL! Crush the lesser races! Conquer the galaxy! Unimaginable power! Unlimited rice pudding! Et cetera, ET CETERA!!" Author's note: okay, I don't know what is up with my blog, but my posts don't seem to be showing up on my site-they show up in blogger as being written and successfully published, but they don't show up on my site. I'm just going to keep posting and hope that it'll eventually show up. -August 5th, 1:00pm. Yay, DALEKS! the Daleks are coming, the daleks are coming!!

D.W.Q.M.: "Did I short circuit?" -the Fourth Doctor Author's note: okay, I don't know what is up with my blog, but my posts don't seem to be showing up on my site-they show up in blogger as being written and successfully published, but they don't show up on my site. I'm just going to keep posting and hope that it'll eventually show up. -August 5th, 12:56pm. I've got a ton of stuff to write about, but I haven't done a random thoughts post in a while... Some fun stuff: via Tegan: and interesting meme: Check the tag of the shirt you are currently wearing and find out where it was made. Mine says 'made in Vietnam'. Also from Tegan, a really cool auction from eBay. Check it out!! Upcoming events and shameless promotion: Hey, if you are in town on Sunday (August 8th) and want to hear some good music, stop by St. Cecilia's church for the Cleveland Interfatih Choir Encourage Concert, at 5pm. shower fun :) :)

D.W.Q.M.: "Oh, I could murder for a cup of tea." -Sarah Jane Smith Okay, trying this post again... Woo-hoo!! Persephone's bridal shower was a huge success!!! Thank you to everyone who were able attend-Perseph loved it!! I would also like to thank Clio and Kari, who both stuck around afterwards to help out with the cleaning up-you guys didn't have to do that, but it was very much appreciated! Thank you! :) :) I won't go into details here, because I'm sure Perseph will be writing about it soon. ;) I am planning on turning the page that I had directions to the shower into a picture page taken at the shower. (eventually mine, and with permission, Karen's) I believe Jaya also mention something about posting pictures on her site at some point as well, so stay tuned!! I have a couple of other things to talk about (like going to St. Cecilia's for the first time with Perseph!) but I'm going to save that for later. Just in case

arggg...grrrrr....!

Okay, I had a brief post about Peresphone's shower this weekend, but there's something funky going on, and only part of my post was showing up. (there was something about the links I had being broken, even though they clearly weren't.) So I just deleted the entire thing and will try to post it again later tonight if I'm feeling up to it. Just a quick note-I'm sorry I wasn't online today. I wasn't feeling well this morning and decided to stay home from work and take it easy. (yes, even I call in sick once in a while! ;) LOL)

The tvjunkie files #9

D.W.Q.M.: Sgt. Benton: "What are we going to do now?" The Second Doctor: "Keep it confused, feed it with useless information. I wonder if I have a television set handy?" Ahhhhh, Stargate. New season-yay!!! So I'm a little slow getting this typed out. I thought I'd better do it now, or it'd never get done! ------------------------------------------------------ Series: Stargate: SG-1 (SciFi) Episode: New Order (season 8 premiere) Original Airdate: July 9th, 2004 "So Teal'C, what's with the hair?" -O'Neill Okay, first of all, the actress who played Dr. Weir changed. I didn't even realize it until the actual airing of the episode (I had been reading about Atlantis for weeks). So far I'm cool with it, but it disturbed both "the Doc" and Jerm. ;) I think she's cool-I'm glad she didn't turn into another Kinnsey. Next big thing-no General Hammond. :( Apparently he has some desk job s

Stoooopid!! :-p

D.W.Q.M.: "Your arrogance is nearly as great as your ignorance." -the First Doctor Ahhh, how well this quote applies to me today. So at lunch today, I was paging through my latest copy of Non-Sport Update , when I came across an interesting article by contributor Don Norton. Apparently with the April/May issue of NSU, there were 100 autographed Benchwarmer promo cards inserted along with the other promos from the issue. So far three have been found-and one of those at an Ohio Borders. I usually buy my copy of NSU at Borders. Now, for those of you who have miraculously remained untouched by my card-collecting hobby (ie, having had to sit through me excitedly talk about my cards or what I'm reading in the NSU ;) LOL ), here is my stance on promo cards: I usually get about 3 or 4, sometimes 5 promo cards with every NSU issue (published bi-monthly) I have a ton of promo cards for sets that I don't intend to try to collect. I decided to keep all of my prom

Summer in MN, part 1

D.W.Q.M.: Time Lord: "I'm travelling incognito." The Third Doctor: "Oh? Why?" Time Lord: "We Time Lords don't care to be conspicuous." looks at the Doctor "Some of us, that is." Well, since I was really lazy this week, and there are new Stargates on tonight, I'll save my tvjunkie files post for sometime this weekend (provided I don't get lazy again) and include the epiosodes that are on tonight... So, for this trip to Minnesota, I actually wrote in my journal-the theory is it'll make it easier to type up in blogger, and I'll write about everything I want to...well, that's the theory, anyway. ;) June 29 th , approx. 11:30pm Unlike my other trips to Minnesota in the last five years, I decided it would be cheaper for me to take the Greyhound, instead of fly...I was reminded why I prefer flying, and why it's been 5 years since I've taken the Greyhound. My bus was supposed to leave at 12:25 am.
