New Horizons rescheduled...again...

D.W.Q.M.: Cornish: "Control to capsule: do you have visual contact?"
the Third Doctor: "Do you mean 'Can I see it'?"

News from NASA: the
New Horizons launch has been scrubbed for the day. There was a power outage in Maryland (the Applied Physics Laboratory at Johns Hopkins University is the spacecraft's mission operations center, and they are running on back up power) due to severe storms in the area. No word yet if they are going to reschedule the launch for tomorrow. If they do, the launch window will be 1:08pm-3:07pm EST.

The launch was originally scheduled for yesterday, but they had to scrub it due to high winds at the launch site. Karen and I were following the countdown for about the last hour of the launch window (3:23pm, EST) (well, Karen was-I didn't get the chance until the last 45 minutes or so). We kept each other updated since neither of us could stay at our desks the whole time. lol ;)

New Horizons is the first mission in NASA's New Frontiers program-it is also the first spacecraft to visit Pluto and it's moon, Charon.
