too...hot...

D.W.Q.M.: Barbara: "Perhaps it's frozen." the First Doctor: "No, impossible... not in this temperature. Besides, it's too warm." Ugh. It is entirely too hot. I hate the heat. I could never move out west or down south-I would just be too miserable. Unfortunately, I wouldn't escape the heat if I went up north! Minneapolis is supposed to get up to 102 today-and no one believes me when I say it can get pretty hot and miserable in Minnesota... I finally broke down and installed my air conditioner yesterday. I know you must think I'm nuts for waiting this long-but actually, I had been doing pretty well up to now. Saturday night was the first night that I couldn't sleep because it was too warm. So, with the heat advisories for this week, plus the fact that I'm fighting off an ear infection(which feels 10x worse when it's hot and muggy) I installed the good 'ol A/C, and my apartment is much more comfortable now. ;) This past Saturday was the...

Ro vs. the Elevator

D.W.Q.M.: Ian: "Where's your spirit of adventure, hm?" the First Doctor: "It died a slow and painful death when those bats came out of the rafters." There are times when our "library of the future" doesn't seem so futuristic. Why must everything keep breaking down? The other day I had to bring some microfilm I was linking from the second floor back down to the first floor. I took my truck, loaded with microfilm, and headed for the elevators. After waiting a bit, elevator #2 opened up and I pushed my truck inside and hit '1'. The doors closed, the elevator hummed, the display went from 2 to 1, and the elevator dinged like it was going to open... ...only it didn't open. The arrow indicated that it now wanted to go up, but the elevator itself didn't move-it dinged a few more times, the arrow still pointing up, flashed 'LL' briefly, dinged some more...and just when I thought I was going to have to hit the emergency button, the ...

writer's block and no, we aren't twins...

D.W.Q.M.: "The universe should be big enough for the both of us ... just." -the Second Doctor Ok, I'm having a serious case of writer's block when it comes to writing about my trip to MN. I've been home for 2 weeks now-everytime I sit down to write something...I just don't know what to write. The trip up was pretty uneventful (ooh, just wait until I get around to the trip back...) Anyhoo, the ride from Cleveland to Chicago was pretty unpleasant-the guy I was sitting next to had a tendency to cover both seats when he fell asleep (unintentional, I assume)-it was awfully hard to wake him, so I spent most of the ride riding on the edge of the seat. The ride also seemed to be one of the bumpiest ever-did the driver have to hit every, pothole there was? So much for sleeping the first half of the trip... The second half was much better-I was waiting in line for the next bus with a girl who was heading for St. Paul-we were comparing our trip to Chicago, and when it ...

Hello! and some Doctor Who news.

D.W.Q.M.: Sgt. Benton: "What are we going to do now?" the Second Doctor: "Keep it confused, feed it with useless information. I wonder if I have a television set handy?" I know this is my first post since I got back, and I probably should talk about my trip...well, I meant to do that earlier this week but I was just too tired. LOL. I need a vacation to recover from my vacation! ;) Plus, I'm hoping to have some pictures to post with my trip entries, until then-I had a great time (even though I missed Boo terribly-she was in Texas visiting her dad while I was in Minnesota) and here is some Doctor Who news. (which, by the way, can also be found over at the Idiot's Lantern ) LOL. Series One (season 27) in the USA: (recap) Current episode: Series 1 has finished it's current run. *patiently awaiting news on when series two will air...* SciFi will air The Empty Child on Sunday, July 16th at 11pm. The Doctor Dances will air the following week (the 23rd) also a...

One of the many reason's why I like MN.

D.W.Q.M.: "The ceremonial gift merely symbolizes friendship. We have no need for symbols, you and I." -K'anpo, (from the Third Doctor story, Planet of the Spiders ). My sister IM'd me this song that she and the kiddies made up: "Oh, you better watch out, You better not cry, You better not pout-I'm telling you why. Auntie Ro is coming to town. She's going to have lots of fun, She's going to play lots of games, She's going to spoil you rotten, So hurry for goodness sakes!" *heehee* I can't wait to see them tomorrow!!!!

DON'T FREAK OUT!!!

D.W.Q.M.: Sarah Jane Smith: "I feel disoriented." the Fourth Doctor: "This is the Disorientation Centre." Sarah Jane: "That makes sense." Happy Solstice, everybody!! :) As of 8:27am, EDT, it is now officially summer. Here in Cleveland we have some lovely rain and thunder to welcome the new season. ;) It's that time of year again-my summer trip up north is nearing...the usual symptoms are coming back: 10. When I say I'm checking out the "local" news, I'm constantly logging on to WCCO . 9. The travel weather section of my weather bug is constantly being looked at. 8. I'm constantly running around, running some kind of errand in preparation for my trip. 7. I see everyone trying to use up their vacation time by taking an extra day everyweek, and I get really antsy-repeating, 'I need a vacation, I need a vacation', when I should be saying, 'Don't worry, yours is coming soon, don't worry, yours is coming soon. 6. I...

D.W.Q.M.: Duke Juliano: "There's this man in Florence claims that by arranging ground glasses in a certain order, it's possible to see the moon and stars as large as your hand." Thank you, NSU!

D.W.Q.M.: "...more than nice. Brilliant!" -the Tenth Doctor This is a little later than when I originally wanted to post this-but I just wanted to give a shout out to the folks at Non-Sport Update for being generous and sending me another copy of the current issue of NSU. :) The mail delivery to my building has been a bit shoddy for the past month-I think the post office is trying to find a new regular mailman for us-we've been having different people deliver the mail, and we suspect that when a sub can't get into the building, they don't deliver the mail at all. Eventually we get our bills, but for cool stuff like magazines, those just disappear. That's what happened to my last issue of Non-Sport Update-I've been so busy the past month that it didn't occur to me until last week that I hadn't received a new issue yet. After checking to make sure one had been sent out, and going over all the scenarios that could have caused my magazine to disappea...

Would you like a brain with that?

D.W.Q.M.: "No! No! Not the mind probe!" -Castellan (from the Fifth Doctor Story, the Five Doctors ) Hey! As of today, I've been blogging for 3 years!!! Hard to believe that three years ago, this was just an experiment to see if I could keep a website up to date. (ok, so I haven't done much with my main site in a loooonnnnggg while-at least I've kept my blog up...more or less.) LOL. I'm really due to update my site-add a few Travel Dog adventures, add some pictures. That'll be my goal this summer. :) My poor sister, Ally (who wishes to be known as Alicat from now on. LOL) :) Anyhoo, my sister is a cashier who works the graveyard shift at a 24 hour grocery store-and anyone who works graveyard shifts could probably tell you stories about the strange customers you get during those hours. Alicat's story begins with a call she got about an hour before her shift ended. She was the only person up frongt and got a call from a woman asking if they had any soft ...

VERY short random thoughts

D.W.Q.M.: the Second Doctor: "Goodbye...Fancypants!" the Third Doctor: "Scarecrow!" Arrrrrggg..I had a nice long random thoughts post, and I lost it!!!! Stupid blogger-why did I have to log in again? I had been working non-stop on the post! I keep forgetting to save my entries as I type them. *sigh* >:( Ok, well, I had several things to say, but now I'm just going to write about a couple of them (because of time issues.) ;) . First of all, Hello, Ally!! My little sis is finally online! Look out, world! ;) She was so excited that she emailed me Friday night, and when I called, she told me to check it. Well, I forgot to check it again during the weekend, so she called and asked me if I ever checked my email. When I finally did check it last night, I was greeted with 7 'Hey! Don't you ever check your email?' messages, and several new pictures of the kiddies!! I do feel bad about not checking my email though. Ally, since you now have a digital came...

Strange electrical phenomenon or deaf ghost?

D.W.Q.M.: Ian: "Where's your spirit of adventure, hm?" the First Doctor: "It died a slow and painful death when those bats came out of the rafters." Ahh, the system is down again. I've had a lovely morning so far-I posted a short entry at the Idiot's Lantern , read several blogs, checked my email, edited some Mp3 track info...yeah, a real productive day at the library so far. ;) So I decided to take the time and write about an incident that happened last Friday morning that was...well, just plain weird. My stereo is hooked up to my tv-and when I use the stereo for sound, I usually have to have it cranked to at least 20 or 22 to make it worthwhile. However, at the end of the day, I usually turn the sound down and then set it to the radio, since I can't wake up without the radio to keep me going in the morning. Last Thursday, I didn't use the stereo for the tv at all, so the volume should have been at it's normal radio setting...right? Wrong! ...

Marco: "Is that a good thing?" (from the Fourth Doctor story, the Masque of Mandragora, ) It has been a very long time since I've done one of these posts-I am so sorry! ahh, little ones-how we have corrupted you. ;)

D.W.Q.M.: "Female? Ah, you have a primary and secondary reproductive system. It is an inefficient system, you should change it." -Linx, (from the Third Doctor story, the Time Warrior ) Well, as long as there is new Doctor Who airing either here or in the U.K., I'm guaranteed at least one new post every week-sometimes more. *hee* I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day! I made my usual calls up north, and as always, they turned into the most interesting conversations. ;) This year's topic? Doctor Who. ;) My Mom, Ally, Shan and I all agree we need to have a Doctor Who marathon while I'm there-problem is, we've been saying that for about 3 years now-it hasn't quite happened yet. (we've tried, though-one or two episodes here and there-but we are talking about hours long, with lots of junk food!) LOL. So this summer will mark our 7th attempt (one for each time I visit in the summer and at Christmas) The big question is-wide screen tv, or big, comf...
