Liftoff! :)
D.W.Q.M.: "Eureka!" -the Third Doctor
New Horizons took off at 2 pm EST today!
I had been listening since 1, keeping Karen informed as they kept changing the launch time due to low clouds. As soon as they hit T-minus 4 minutes and counting, Karen tuned in at her desk. When the countdown hit T-minus 1 minute, I started to watch the live feed from NASA tv. :)
It will pass the moon about 9 hours (from liftoff), and will pass by Jupiter in the spring of 2007, where it will get a gravity boost and shorted the trip to Pluto by a few years.
New Horizons is on its way to Pluto!!!
